George Lopez

George Lopez
George Lopez

My hero is George Lopez, because he inspired me about my Latin life. George Lopez got through life with his grandparents after his mom left him when he was only 10 years old. George never knew father; he left when George was only two months old. His grandparents raised him well and helped him become a great Latin comedian.

George Lopez has created many memorable lines and scenes with his comedy act. On a different scale, he and his wife Ann Lopez made headlines when Ann gave George one of her kidneys, saving his life. They joined the National Kidney Foundation of Southern California. There is going to be a 2006 transplant games in Louisville, Kentucky, June 16–21, 2006. George loves to make children laugh to keep them happy until they have to go to surgery. When they come out, they are weak and they can’t move at all, but George keeps them entertained.

George Lopez lives in San Francisco. One of his houses is in the front and he has one in the back. Both of them are brown with dark brown shutters. His neighbors have different colored houses—his neighbor on the right has a red house and his other neighbor on the left has a green house. To his neighbors and him, it looks a bit like a Mexican flag in San Francisco.

On April 23, 1961, George Lopez was born in Mission Hills, California. After his mom left him for her boyfriend, his grandparents found him all alone at his house. They took him and raised him. He thanks his grandparents for getting him through child life and adult life. He got kicked out when he was 19 because his grandparents wanted him to get a job.

Why is this hero important to me? George Lopez is important to me because he taught me about my Mexican/Latino heritage. I want to be a strong Mexican.
