Kevin Wu

Kevin Wu, also known as KevJumba, is a YouTube celebrity who has open the door for many unknown Asian talents. He began making YouTube videos about his daily adventures while adding a comedy element. His first video debuted on February 5th, 2007. However, his popularity truly began to grow with his video about Asian stereotypes "I Have to Deal With Stereotypes." By June 2010, his YouTube channel had already gotten 1,000,000 subscribers.

On his video, Kevin introduced his father to his fans. His father would be very much integrated into many of Kevin's videos. Kevin has also collaborated with many other YouTube celebrities such as Ryan Higa (nigahiga) and Fred. In some of his videos, he has been seen with real life celebrities such as Jessica Alba.


Only June 24th, 2008, Kevin Wu made a new channel called JumbaFund, which was a channel dedicated to raising money for charity. Within four months, the JumbaFund channel had already recieved 145,000 subscribers. For every person that viewed a video originating from the JumbaFund channel, Kevin gets money in which he is able to donate to a charity of his choice. Donations have been made to charities and hospitals such as St. Jude's Children's Hospital and Invisible Children.


Kevin Wu has also done work outside of YouTube. He appeared in small shows such as The CW's Online Nation. He also co-starred on a HBOLabs online series Hooking Up. However, his biggest feat yet was to appear on the 17th season of The Amazing Race with his father Michael Wu.

Kevin Wu is not only a comedian to many users. He is the person who contributed to mainstreaming Asian-American culture to America. He brought light on the Asian culture to other ethnicities and grabbed respect from America's diverse society.
