My hero is Mr. Chiu Tsung-Te, a remarkable figure from our hometown, Rinan.
He is admired for his selfless actions and dedication to the community, especially in times of crisis.
When the Da-an River flooded, he immediately offered his own home as a recovery center for farmers and generously invested in building water management systems to support disaster relief efforts.
His commitment to helping others didn’t stop there.
In 1961, during the founding of Hualong Elementary School, he donated a large piece of land to ensure that children in the community would have a proper place to study.
His actions remind us of the story of Yu the Great, who passed by his home three times without entering in order to complete his mission of flood control.
Mr. Chiu demonstrated that one individual’s efforts can make a difference for an entire village.
His story teaches us the value of courage, generosity, and a strong sense of responsibility.
He inspires us to act when others are in need and to serve our community without hesitation. Through his legacy, we learn that true heroism lies in using one’s own strength to uplift others and to protect the place we call home.
