Guardian of the Bridge

I chose Chen Si as my hero because of his heartwarming mission to save lives in his community as a regular citizen. Chen Si has dedicated nearly every one of his weekends for the past two decades patrolling the Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge in China, which is a well known suicide area. Since 2003, Chen Si has saved the lives of almost 500 people through conversation, comforting, and offering a non-judgmental listening ear to those in distress. His dedication to this mission has raised significant awareness for mental health across the world, his story inspiring many.
