Harriet Tubman

by Penelope Cruz from Brooklyn , New York in United States

Harriet Tubman, she risked everything just for others. Harriet Tubman escaped slavery and went back to the south about 13 times to rescue 70 others. Putting it all at risk she went back not just leaving and never coming back ,no she saved other people’s lives.

It all started at 6 years old ,Harriet Tubman was made to do forced labor .She was separated from her mom sent to do field work. Well that was happening Harriet’s sisters were sold to the Deep South .At only the age 12 Harriet had a brain injury caused by very heavy metal being carried that her head shrunk . As a kid Harriet Tubman was whipped and beaten]' that later caused dizziness and pain. Harriet suddenly started to have vivid dreams that she believed was a message from God and those dreams led her closer to her religion.Harriet Tubman responded by staying positive and declaring “you’ll be free or die”helping them focus and continue.

Harriet has saved about 70 people from slavery risking her freedom to save others, going from an underground trail sneaky through obstacles. Harriet’s act of bravery saved many people and returned their freedom. Harriet Tubman's motivation was her family, she couldn’t bear the thought of herself being free and picture her family still being stuck enslaved . She believed that it was her job to rescue those who could not rescue themselves. Harriet knew that her enslavers died and did not want her family to be at risk of being sold.

The character trait that makes Harriet Tubman that makes her a good person was her braveness, selflessness, and leadership through the hostage environment.  I look up to Harriet Tubman because she was brave in a hostile environment, putting her life at risk to save other people’s life .
