"Why So Low", which won 1st place in the high-school division, is a short film produced by BAYCAT in conjunction with the Peer Resources class at Thurgood Marshall Academic High School. Students ask each other why only 3 African-American males graduated in 2009.
"Bridging the Gaps", which won first in the community division, was produced and edited by former BAYCAT intern Ala Taha. The film looks at housing and services for former foster youth -- now young parents with babies.
"75 Cents to Ride", which was produced by Misson High student Laron Davis, won third place in the Experimental Category.
Congratulations to our students and interns! These films will be screened at the festival at 3pm November 20, at the George Lucas Building on the USC campus.
