Motto
the invisible
has to be pictured
the unspeakable
has to be said
the unthinkable
has to be dreamed
the intangible
has to be held tight
but do not touch it with your finger
- Ilse Bing -
This German avant-garde photographer and poet was one of the first influential women on the photography scene in Paris in the 1930s. Her renown as an innovator and the fact that she was the only professional photographer in Paris to use an advanced Leica camera earned her the moniker, "Queen of the Leica" from fellow photographer Emmanuel Sougez.
