Irena Sendler is a powerful person; she has impacted people's lives like never before. Risking her own life for other people. That shows that Irena Sendler is a true hero.
She was born in 1910 as an only child in her town in Warsaw, Poland. After her dad died, the Jewish community helped Irena's mom pay for her education.
While she was at Warsaw College, she studied Polish literature. When she was in school in her 30s, the Nazi's took over. In 1930, she worked as an activist connected to the Free Polish University.
From 1935 to 1945, she stood up for Jews, and throughout the hostile situation for Jews, she devoted a lot of time, effort, and empathy into helping the Jews.
She did this because she felt a connection to the Jews and felt so honored by them that she felt the obligation to help them and to give them what they gave her.
Irena Sandler has devoted her life to helping Jews through the hostile situation in which Jews were. She helped save many of the kids, was very kind to the Jews, and offered food and shelter.
She saved 2,500 kids and got 3,000 false documents to save them. She showed devotion, determination, and empathy toward all of the Jews and was very selfless because what it means to be a hero is to not only think about yourself but what you can do to make other people's lives better, and that’s exactly what she did.
Irena shows determination and selflessness. I look up to her because she impacted people then, and now her impact is still shown today because the people she saved did live long and prosperous lives.
We can learn that in a time of war, you should always devote time to impacting people's lives and helping them because a little of your help can save their lives.
