Isabella Aiona Abbott
Dr.Isabella Aiona Abbott is a woman who showed how great the love of nature and knowledge can be. Isabella Abbott became familiar with different kinds of seaweeds through her childhood. She wrote over 150 journal papers and eight books, including the seminal work on Pacific Coast seaweed, Marine Algae of California, published in 1976 I decided to paint Dr.Isabella because her life and career inspire to overcome difficulties. In 1971 Isabella Abbott became the first color woman to be accepted into the biology department at Stanford University. She used her research on seaweed to promote healthy marine ecosystems. My work is a way to express gratitude to those who make the world better through science.
