Jane McGrath is the wife of Australian cricket player Glenn McGrath. On June 22, 2008, she passed away from cancer at the age of 42.
She was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 31, and soon after she had her left breast removed, which is called a mastectomy. She also had chemotherapy and radiotherapy. When she was in remission she got married and had two kids: James aged 8, and Holly aged 6. Her 2 kids were like miracles because she thought she couldn't have kids because of her chemotherapy and radiotherapy. While she was in remission she wrote a book called "A Love for Life".
After the profits Glenn and Jane made from their book, they started a cancer foundation for women in regional and rural areas. The foundation was for women with breast cancer under 40 years of age.
Jane stayed in remission till 2003, when she found out she had an excruciatingly painful hip. This time it turned into cancer again. She thought she was less of a victim the second time, and it was still a challenge to overcome, but she was up to the challenge. She fought the battle and got through it till 2006.
In 2006 cancer struck again, but this time it was an inoperable brain tumour. Despite fighting really hard and living with cancer for 11 years, Jane sadly passed away in 2008, leaving a young loving family and many many friends that had been supporting her the whole time she has been ill.
The people who knew Jane always talked about how positive and happy she was. She was devoted to her family and children, and in addition to taking care of her own health and her family she also found time to support other people with cancer.
Jane was a courageous woman with a passion for life, family and helping others. She is a real person who lived a very courageous and exceptional, but short life.
HER WONDERFUL EFFORTS WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!!!
