JANE GOODALL

129246Roots and ShootsTo be a hero you don’t need to be special, you are a hero just as you are. Heroes make the world a better place. A hero is someone who is brave, adventurous, and peaceful. It is important to be fast and brave because heroes will face many dangers. Like facing jail when heroes disobey unfair country or state laws. Heroes like Jane Goodall are adventurous because she saves chimpanzees. She also learns about them (chimpanzees).  Like Mahatma Gandhi who tried to change India in peace, he was a peaceful soldier. He told his people to lay down and told the British army, if you want to roll your tanks on us roll them. At that time Britain ruled India and Gandhi made India independent. These are the values that heroes must have!

Jane Goodall is a chimpanzee scientist, who studied and lived with chimpanzees. She was one of the first, hero to actually save and live and care about chimps. Jane was a person who actually explored animals. One thing she did was when she was younger  she went to a zoo and she was very curious about all the animals. Her mom and dad bought her a toy chimpanzee. Since then she wanted to help animals. When she grew older she made a zoo to try to keep chimps safe. One thing Jane learned was that chimpanzees were in danger, and had many diseases so she made a zoo to save them.

129555observing chimpsRoots and ShootsJane Goodall was born on April 3, 1934 in London, England. When Jane was a little baby she loved exploring animals. When Jane finished high school in 1952 she could not afford to go to college so she decided to go to Africa to a farm where she was invited. In 1956 she went to Kenya, Africa. After that Jane went to Tanzania. Before she studied chimpanzees she helped Louis Leakey dig dino fossils because he was an archeologist. After some time Louis asked her to study chimpanzees. After Jane studied them for a while she learned many things about them like chimps had diseases and got sick quickly, so she decided to make a zoo to save them. In 1977 she started the Jane Goodall institute and she has also won many prizes for her research. Jane studied animals all her life. She is still studying about animals (she still has her toy chimpanzee).

Jane always wanted to learn about animals. Dr. Leakey asked her to study chimps so that's how she became who she is. She also worked hard for her dream. It was a challenge when she graduated and  wanted to go to Africa. It was a challenge for her because she was not allowed to go to Africa alone so she had to take her mom with her.

129556Jane and dollRoots and ShootsI admire Jane because I like how she never gives up on what she wants. Jane is adventurous because she lived and learned about chimps alone. She also won research awards. She is brave because, she lived with the chimps for many weeks alone and also faced diseases. Now she travels a lot, and teaches people about the earth and what she has done for the earth. That’s what she has done for peace.I admire Jane because I like how she never gives up on what she wants. Jane is adventurous because she lived and learned about chimps alone.
