I continue to be a big fan of the Beatles. Even today their material is fresh and challenging. It is truly a phenomenon that they could have produced so many excellent songs in such a short period.
John Lennon was a true original. His quick wit and edgy lyrics were the perfect counterpoint to McCartney's sweetness.
As an artist whose subject is humanity, I have always been fascinated by Lennon's face which seemed to change dramatically every decade. Music and music people are powerful ingredients in my choices for sculpture. I like to invest my sculptures with as much action as possible so that they are not merely three dimensional likenesses. Most of the reference for my sculpture of John Lennon was gleaned from video of the Beatles Shea Stadium Concert. The best compliment I received on this sculpture was a critic who said, "I can hear it".
