John Tacket

by Adam D from Toronto, Ontario in Canada

John spread awareness for a disease called Progeria, a disease that he had. He wanted to tell people that people with Progeria are the same as everyone else. Progeria is a disease that makes you age 8-10 times faster than normal.

John inspired a lot of people just by doing everyday things. John died at the early age of 16. This syndrome affects every 1 in 5 million people. He is a hero because he went around the world talking to kids with Progeria and telling them to never give up and to live their lives.

When John was two years old he looked like he was 8. When he was born his parents knew he would die young, and they did everything they could but they couldn't get rid of his disease. He lived a little over 5683 days in his life, a normal person would live 1-2 hundred thousand.

Everyone that knew John, said he was courageous. He had a life-threatening disease and could die at any time, but that didn't stop him from living his life and doing what he wanted. His favorite thing to do was play drums and see his friends.

John Tacket was the longest-living person in America with Progeria. He is a hero because he inspired many people with and without Progeria. This is why John Tacket is a hero to the community and the world.
