I consider a hero someone who has special powers that take different forms. To some people, a hero is a person that saves people, someone who fights for the people and wants to destroy the evil in the world. But my hero doesn’t want to save the world. He only plays basketball .

Michael Jordan, the best known athlete in the world, was born in Brooklyn, New York, but he was raised in Wilmington, North Carolina. He attended the University of North Carolina on a basketball scholarship and so began the basketball career of Michael Jordan. As a freshman, he scored the winning basket in the 1982 NCAA Championship game against the Hoyas of Georgetown and was selected the college player of the year in the 1983-1984 season. In 1984 he lead the United States basketball team to a gold medal at the Olympic games in Los Angeles.

Jordan left the college league in 1984 to play with the Chicago Bulls. He did his best and finished the season as one of the top scorers in the league with an average of 28.2 points per game. He also was named the Rookie of the Year and played his first of nine all-star games. Jordan finished the 1986-1987 season as the second best scorer. Wilt Chamberlain was the top scorer that season. He scored 3000 points in a single season. Chamberlain set the bar for Jordan.

He led the NBA scoring for seven consecutive seasons 1987–1993, trying to break the Chamberlain record. He also became the Bulls' best scorer and set numerous scoring records, including the most points in playoff games and being the highest scoring man in the NBA championship series. And he led the Bulls to their first NBA championship title in 1991 and then again in 1992 and 1993. Jordan also became a member of the United States Olympic basketball team known as the Dream Team. Jordan announced his first retirement in 1993-1994.

In 1994 Jordan returned to the sport, but this time as a baseball player. He signed a minor league contract with the Chicago White Sox of the American League. Jordan wasn’t a good baseball player, so he returned to the basketball court with the Wizards. Jordan never won with this team. He left the basketball court on April 14th in the game between the Sixers and the Wizards. Jordan lost his last game. He left basketball playing 1072 games for a total of 41011 minutes, scoring 32292 points, 5633 assists and 6672 rebounds. Jordan was one of the best players in the NBA.

I consider Jordan a hero because he changed the way of playing basketball and because he inspires me to play basketball and to do my best all the time. Many people are inspired by his way of playing basketball and consider him the king of basketball. I chose him as a hero because he plays basketball very well and because he practices every day of his life. He doesn’t have the power to play good basketball; he creates his own power by practicing and correcting his own mistakes for the game. I feel very proud because I see many of his games on TV. I know how he plays basketball. I watched him during the year he had his best career in basketball; when he played and won with the Bulls.

Jordan has many qualities: he plays good basketball, but he does other things, too. For example, he writes books about his own life, about what he felt when he entered a stadium, and how he felt before a game. He also writes other kinds of books about his strategies and the things he did inside and outside a game. I love those kinds of books.

So, all that I wrote here about Jordan is what I want to do in the future. I want to be better than him. I want to be the best in the world, but, now, while I am a child, I will be admiring him not only as a basketball player, but also as a person.
