My hero, Corey Keepers, believes, “A hero is someone who goes above and beyond what is asked and does something good for someone else.” My brother Corey may believe that of others, but I think he is a hero because he matches those qualities.
Corey Keepers lives in Cedar Grove, New Jersey and he was born in 1984. He is twenty years old. Corey decided to join the volunteers at the Cedar Grove Fire Department out of the goodness of his heart. He saves and protects others to keep his town better and safer for its citizens. Even when Corey isn’t on duty, he saves people. He’s had a great deal of practice and training so he’ll be prepared for emergency calls.
When Corey is working in Newark as a rescue squad worker, he has to wear a bulletproof vest because it’s so dangerous. He gets about three or four calls each hour. Recently, Corey was going to a call in Newark and he was in the front seat and a man driving 50 MPH crashed right into Corey and his partner. Corey was fine, but he had to kick his door out. He had to cut his partner’s door out and save him. But the ambulance was totaled.
My hero is very important to me because he saves the lives of others. He puts other lives before his own. He does what’s necessary or what is needed in his job without thinking of himself. Corey saves lives without being told to.
Corey is a hero because he also cleans up toxic waste that could kill us. He makes my life easier for me and risks his life for others. The people of Cedar Grove, Montclair, and Newark can sleep without worrying because they have a wonderful person watching out for them.
