My hero inspires me to read almost every minute of the day. Before, I enjoyed reading, but now I ADORE reading and can hardly stop reading Kathryn Lasky's series "Guardians of Ga'Hoole." Kathryn Lasky was inspired a lot by her mother who always believed in her, even when her teachers didn't. Kathryn Lasky thinks of her parents as extraordinary even though they were just average people. In fact, she thinks everyone in her family is extraordinary or neat. Lasky is not as popular as other authors such as Lemony Snicket or J.K. Rowling, but she has a creative mind that's usually being used on her children's books.

Portrait of Kathryn Lasky |
Lasky says that in some way or another, all her stories came from experiences with her family-either being a wife, daughter, sister, or mother, which really makes me think about my family and how helpful they are to my creative mind. The same goes for my friends. They have inspired me to write fiction stories about them that my second grade class had loved. I look up to Kathryn Lasky, not only because I want to be a writer, but because her family means the world to her, and they've always helped Lasky think up a new story.
I think it's awesome that Kathryn Lasky can write so many books, including the "Royal Diaries," four "Dear America" books, a "My Name is America," three "My Americas," three "Starbuck Family Adventures" and more. I think of how devoted she has to be to write children and young adult books, picture books, and adult books. I really enjoy writing and I'm devoted to it, especially after thinking about Lasky and how she had to go through bunches of years writing. What dazzles me the most is that she still continues publishing books for a living! Knowing that her second job was as a teacher, I think she's quite proud of her work, and personally, I don't think she'll stop any time soon (probably because of her inspirational family).
