Lakeysia Beene

Lakeysia Beene was born March 9, 1978 in Gold River, CA. She is 24 and is 5-7 and atttended Notre Dame. Her father Edmand is retired from the U.S. Air Force. Her mom is an aerospace engineer.

Lakeysia has favorites for example her favorite soccer player is Roberto Carlos, for his skill and work ethic. She also plays other sports like body boarding only not professionally. Her favorite foods are mac and chees and ice cream. If she could chose another athlete to be, she would chose to be Tony Hawk. "It would be sweet to do all those crazy tricks."

She is a former student of Notre Dame. She is one of the 4 college players from the 1999 season among the 24 players chosen to play for the United Soccer Association Pro Women's soccer league. Lakeysia wrapped up her four year career at Notre Dame in 1999 by being named to the NCAA all-tournament team after leading the Irish to the women's college cup finals. She was the 2001 WUSA Goalkeeper of the year. Beene went a total of 624 minutes (10 hours, 24 minutes) with out surrendering another score from Atlanta. This is a WUSA record. As a sophmore at Notre Dame she went from being a back up to the team's only goalkeeper. She player every minute of every game for the total of 2231 minutes. As A junior she started every game once again and recorded 10 solor and six shared shutouts.

As you might have already known she plays for the Cyber Rays. She is one of the two goalies for the team. Lakeysia almost always blocks the shot. To me she is one of the many good female soccer players in the WUSA. She has coma a long way from just playing soccer for Notre Dame. She is so approachable I mean when they have autograph signings after the games. This is one of the reasons why she is my hero. Another reason is that she has such a composed feeling about her when she is on the field. It rarely looks as though she panics and ever since I first saw her play I wanted to play just like her even if I had to use her technique in another sport. I have wanted to play pro soccer since I was at least 10 years old.
