Lindsey Brinton

Lindsey Brintonhttp://bme.virginia.edu/kelly/people.htmlOne of my heroes is my sister, Lindsey. She is an AMAZING big sister, a scientist and she is an AWESOME mom! As a kid, Lindsey asked many questions and was a really curious child and that is probably one reason why she became a scientist. Another reason as to why she is a scientist now is that she has always loved science and math. Lindsey graduated from UVA in 2016 with a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering. Right now, Lindsey lives in Columbus, Ohio. She is married to Travis Brinton and is the mother to my two amazing nephews, Levi and Seth and my wonderful niece, Marie. As you can tell Lindsey is really awesome, but she also has a really special and cool job.

Lindsey is a scientist who studies Leukemia and Pancreatic Cancer. Right now, there is no cure for it and that is what Lindsey studies and tries to find every single day. I am sure that every scientist including Lindsey has learned that every time you try that you will not succeed. Lindsey never gives up or quits, because she gets frustrated or can’t figure something out. Everyone gets frustrated and eventually you WILL figure it out. She just has to keep reminding herself that what she is doing will make a big impact. Lindsey makes the world a better place by just being in it, but also because she knows that she is making an impact on the world by curing the people who are sick and are going through a really bad illness. If we did not have people like Lindsey in the world we would not have cures for any diseases and that would end in a lot of sadness. But, by having people like Lindsey in the world who strive to help the world and make an impact, the world is such a better and healthier place.

As you can tell Lindsey is very impactful every day. I didn't just choose her because she was my sister, but also because she inspires me all the time to never give up, even when things get really tough. Lindsey is a great role model for everyone because she teaches everyone to follow their dreams and to never give up. If I had to describe Lindsey in a quote I would choose “Follow your dreams and never give up” because that is what Lindsey does. Lindsey uses her talents to help the world and make it a better place for everyone and that is why I picked her as one of my heroes.
