The person who I chose to incorporate within my artwork is Jane Goodall: a visionary who allowed for people to finally recognize the beauty of Earth. Dr. Jane Goodall was a primatologist and anthropologist who revolutionized our perspective on the natural world. Through her research on animal behavior, specifically chimpanzees, she challenged predisposed assumptions regarding animals. Through her compassion for animals, she made the world care about them and finally recognize them as autonomous beings. As a U.N. messenger of peace, she advocated for the conservation of the environment. Later in her life, Goodall soon became a message of hope, emphasizing the fact that we all have something to contribute to this world. These were the values that inspired me to pursue art in an effort to contribute to an Earth that slowly has become devoid of creativity. This piece is for Jane Goodall, the woman who inspired all.
We must recognize Jane Goodall, not only because of her recent death just last year, but because of the ingenuity she continued to provide to humanity through her entire life. Within my artwork I’ve incorporated her in the midst of her research, in an effort to portray the process of her greatest contributions. She observes the natural world in this sense, looking upon an animal that no one chose to recognize before her. Jane Goodall exemplifies the true good that all people aim for, and it is why she has become one of my greatest inspirations. Jane is a hero, through and through, and this is why it is of utmost importance that she is remembered. Through art or through memory, I hope that this piece might inspire others to recognize her legacy.
