Queen Esther
by Ceana Oh of Taft High School
Queen Esther was one of the first heroines in history. As a young Jewish girl her parents died and she was fostered by her cousin Mordecai of the Jews. Esther showed bravery for her cause and showed great wisdom, understanding, faith, and sacrifice in the process. As Esther’s name means star, I also want to shine bright in this world as a light. God worked through Esther and her faith the perfect example for me to follow. She encourages me to not settle for the lesser choice, because I don’t have to work for it, but take the choice that I believe in and work hard for it, even if I have to die. In a world where men ruled she shone for her rights and the lives of the people she loved. She is a vanguard for heroine today.
