Larry Shaffield is one of America's many unsung heroes! For more than a decade he has worked diligently to clean up Georgia's coastline and marshes. He's also worked tirelessly to teach others to do the same and to change laws that threaten the environmental integrity of the rapidly disappearing wetlands.
Larry embodies activism and heroism. He has sacrificed personal time, money, comfort, and even safety to clean up and protect the environment. On any day, you might find Larry out on his boat, on his way to clean up a barrier island. The very next afternoon you will find him writing a letter about the activites of a local governmental agency, and then forwarding it to hundreds of people.
