by Emily from Grove City

Mickey "The Mick" Mantle was born on October 20,1931 in Spawinaw, Oaklahoma. On April 17, 1951 Mickey made his first Major League debut going 1-for-4 in a 4-0 win against Boston at Yankee Stadium. April 17, 1953, 2 years from his debut The Mick hit what is recognized as the first tape measure home run. It was a 595-footer at Griffith Stadium of Washington. Mickey was on 23 different Topps baseball cards. Next is one of them.
