Malala portraitby KaitlynI chose Malala hero because she is a hero to many people and she has shown the world that no matter what, every boy and girl should have the right to go to school and get a good education. This book is an autobiography book, and it has 230 pages. This book tells us about her childhood. Malala started her campaign for girls education at the age of ten when Swat Valley was being attacked by terrorists and education for girls was threatened.
Malala action by KaitlynIn October 2012, Malala was targeted by the Taliban and shot on the way home from school. Malala Yousafzai was born on July 12, 1997. Malala grew up in Mingora, Pakistan, located in the country of Swat Valley. Malala has two siblings, named Kushal and Atal. Her mother's name is Toor Pekai and her father's name is Ziauddin. In 2012, she went to school at the Kushal Public School, and then during 2013 to 2017, she went to the Edgbaston High School for Girls. Malala always came home from school and played this game called cricket with her brothers. Sometimes she would play with her best friend. They usually just visited. One day, when Malala was coming home from school, she was shot in the head and nearly killed by the Taliban. Amazingly, she survived after months in the hospital. She is now world famous and is giving speeches about her life and what it was like being shot and also about human rights. Her dad ran a school and her mom fed her to help her stay strong and healthy. She has two brothers who played with her to keep her entertained. Malala always had a dream of winning the Nobel Prize, but she never thought she would win it until a miracle happened and she won it. She also won many other prizes and awards. Malala was terrified of a story she was told about the bloody square. People were dragged from their homes and killed, the bodies were displayed in green squares later named the Bloody Square because of the terror. Often there were notes pinned to the bodies that would say, "This is what happens to spies and infidels," or "Do not touch this body until 11:00 am or you will be next." Malala always had a dream of becoming a doctor.
Malala was shot in the head and was able to survive months in the hospital and a with lot of doctors doing therapy and working really hard to get her speech back. She was able to overcome this and is now happy living with her family. Malala's parents were very supportive towards Malala, and they helped her get most of her success. Malala's parents didn't stop her from going to school because of the Taliban, they encouraged her to go to school and they helped her to get medical care after being shot. Malala is brave, kind and very loving. She has to be very brave to stand up to people with guns, and she is strong enough to be able to go through all the things that she did. She is very kind and loving to her family and friends. On October 10th, 2014, Malala Yousafzai received the Nobel Prize for Peace. She also won many other prizes. I will list only some: Philadelphia Liberty Medal, the Glamor Award for Girls Hero and the Order of Smile. Malala was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize two years after being shot.
She was very happy and surprised to get the Nobel Prize. I was very surprised to learn that Malala went to school and that she was able to survive her shooting. If I was able to meet Malala, I would ask her these three questions: Did you and your family ever feel safe? Did you and your family ever have to hide from the Taliban? How long were you in the hospital for? I would love to be Malala's kid because she would have lots of cool stories to tell about her childhood! I loved this book because it had lots of information and I loved hearing about her childhood and learning about her family and friends. I learned about how many siblings she had, her siblings´names and her parents´names. I also learned about how her parents acted. I know what it feels like to have a sibling that has to be in the hospital for a long time. And I learned that not everybody wants to go to school, but even if they don't want to go, enjoy it because some people have to fight to go to school, so always be grateful. I am super happy that I chose Malala because it is really cool to be able to read a story that a kid wrote and it was also amazing to learn about her life and surviving the shooting. I would definitely look up to Malala as a role model because she is so responsible and caring.
