"I think the only way I could make something fun and big is if I don''''''''t expect it to be." -Markus Persson

I chose to read about Markus Persson because my little brother, Cooper, loves to play Minecraft. There are many books about Minecraft but I couldn't find any on Markus Persson who invented Minecraft. Therefore, we read about Mr. Persson on Wikipedia. This article covers all of his life very briefly. There were no books about Mr. Persson, so I cannot tell you anything about the author.

Markus Persson was born June 1, 1979 in Stockholm, Sweden. When he was a little boy he did not play soccer and hockey. He played Lego. He began programming on his Dad's computer when he was 7 years old. He made his own game at the age of 8. Mr. Persson's childhood was not always happy. He changed schools when he was 7 and had a hard time making friends so he spent more time playing Legos and computer. He parents divorced when he was 12 and he dropped out of school before finishing High School. His mother made Mr. Persson take a computer course which was very smart.

Challenges and Accomplishments:  One of Mr. Persson's was the divorce of his parent. His sister also ran away because of drugs. Then Mr. Persson dropped out of high school. His mother was the biggest, positive influence on Mr. Persson life. She forced him to take an online computer programming course. He went on to do a lot of coding and he came up with Minecraft. Minecraft was released November 2011 and it sold a couple of years later for 2.5 billion dollars.

Conclusions and Reflections: I was most surprised when I found out that Minecraft came from Mr. Persson playing Lego. I would like to be his child because he is cool and he could teach me about Minecraft. I learned that even if your life is difficult, a person can still succeed.
