I want you to try to answer these questions. Who is the man who gave the “I Have a Dream” speech? The person who led black people to freedom? Still don’t know? He gave one of the biggest and best known speeches in America. The person was Martin Luther King Jr. He used words for his fights, nothing physical. He was able to change the world.

Martin Luther King Jr had a very interesting background. He was born in Atlanta, GA on January 15, 1929. He died in April 4, 1968. When Martin was little, he had a white friend. They were best friends. Then when school started, Martin could not play with the white boy anymore. He was really upset. The school Martin Luther King Jr went to was Booker T Washington High School. Did you know that Martin Luther King Jr was so smart that he skipped two grades? He started college at the age of fifteen. Had a younger brother and a big sister. When he was older he married the woman Coretta Scott.

There have been many great speeches in history. Martin Luther King Jr gave one of the best ones. He is the man who gave the speech “I Have a Dream”. Because of his speech, he led black people to have equal rights as white people which is fair. He inspired a lot of people. His “I Have a Dream” speech is one of the biggest speeches in history. Also, Martin Luther King Jr led the Montgomery bus boycott. This started because Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on the bus, and because of that she got arrested and spent the night in jail. The boycott lasted over a year. Then Martin Luther King Jr got arrested and his house got bombed. That was the end of the bus boycott. However, he still did not give up to make black people have the equal rights of white people.

I say that everyone in the USA should know who Martin Luther King Jr. He is the man who changed the USA with one speech. The man who has made blacks stop suffering and get the life they deserve. He is also my hero, because now I can hang out with my friends, even if they are black. Martin Luther King Jr should be respected and honored for his hard work for equal rights to black people. And also, never forget Martin Luther King Jr Day!!
