Martin Luther King Jr

by Estrella from Chicago

“I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed--we hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal." That is what Martin Luther King Jr. said before he passed away. His speech talked about allowing white and black people to go the same schools. He didn't think it should matter where you sit on the bus. Martin Luther King Jr changed life for everybody.

132968quotelovethispic.com            Martin Luther King Jr's childhood was rough. He was born on January 15,1929. Next he got married in June 1958 to Coretta. When he was 6 years old, he was told that two of his friends could not play with him anymore because he was black and they were white. That was Martin’s childhood.

Martin changed society by giving his speech and black and white people to have equal rights like being able to go to the same school, and being able to go to the same grocery stores.

Here are some of my hero’s characteristics. First Martin was unafraid of negative consequences because he spent eight days in prison. Martin was self-sacrificing because he sacrificed his life so that everybody can be free. Finally, he was positive because he was the most important voice of the American civil rights movement.

Martin Luther King Jr. is important 'cause if it wasn't for him, white and black people would not go to the same schools. “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. I have a dream.”
