Martin Luther King JrBiography Did you know that Martin Luther King Jr was a big part of the Civil Rights Movement, and he was also elected as president of the Southern Christian Leadership Community? In addition to that, he was also a pastor at the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama, and he won the Nobel Peace Prize. Martin Luther King Jr was born on January 15, 1929, and he devastatingly died on April 4, 1968. When he was young, he experienced what being segregated felt like because of his skin color; that led him to become who he was. To me, Martin Luther King Jr is a hero because he was persistent, he was very helpful to others, and he was a great leader. Overall, Martin Luther King Jr is my hero and the hero of many others.
If you’ve heard of Martin Luther King Jr, you know that one of his main character traits was perseverance. Martin Luther King Jr composed a quote that shows great perseverance, it is “If you can't fly, then run, if you can't run, then walk, if you can't walk, then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.” In addition to that, he also never gave up, even when the cops were hitting him and his peers with a stick or when the cops were throwing gas bombs at them. He never stopped fighting for what's right. Over the years of trying to make black lives equal, Martin Luther King Jr never gave up. Whenever he had a thought or a dream he tried to pursue it, even if it took him a long amount of time. He never stopped fighting for black people to obtain equal rights.
In all of Martin Luther King Jr’s years, he has best showed how to be very helpful to others. One great example of him being helpful is that he has helped organize the Montgomery Bus Boycott, the boycott worked. The boycott was a protest towards being allowed to sit anywhere you want on a bus without having to give up your seat to a white person. The boycott began before Rosa Parks got arrested, but what Rosa Parks did heavily affected black people’s rights, in a good way. At the time black people were forced to sit in the back of any public bus, and if there were no more seats left for white people, black people would have to give up their seats. Rosa Parks didn’t want to get up from her seat when she had to because a white person had to sit down, so she was then put in jail. That protest made the Supreme Court end segregation on public buses, and this whole protest took 13 months. In general, the protest was for getting equal rights. Another great reason that shows he has been helpful to others is that when he was a pastor, he composed great speeches which then helped black people to fight for equal rights. An example of a speech that he produced was the I Have a Dream Speech. The third reason is that he has helped people believe in peace by never fighting. His strongest body part was his mouth, he didn’t believe in fighting. He was inspired by people like Nelson Mandela, and Mahatma Gandhi. Martin Luther King Jr always helped people no matter what the risk was.
Have you heard of the all the events Martin Luther King Jr has led? The events that he led were towards getting equal rights, and he has led many events. One of his most well-known events that he led was when he led people across the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, Alabama. Martin Luther King Jr led 32,000 people across Edmund Pettus Bridge Bridge to try and protest for black people being able to vote. Then, he and 300 other people walked all the way from Selma, Alabama to Montgomery, Alabama. The walk was called the Freedom Walk because they were trying to get rid of the not being allowed to vote rule. In addition to that, he also led the group that planned the Montgomery Bus Boycott and many other protests towards getting equal rights. An example of one of the protests they performed with Martin Luther King Jr was the Birmingham Campaign, in 1963. Another example of him being a leader was when he delivered his "I Have a Dream" speech. That speech led black people to fight for equal rights. Eventually, they won equal rights. Still, to this day people look at that speech and try to become great leaders, just like Martin Luther King Jr. Martin Luther King Jr continued to show his leadership skills until he died.
In conclusion, Martin Luther King Jr is one of the greatest heroes that has ever lived. He became a hero by showing great perseverance and by never giving up. He also became a hero by helping people believe in peace. Another reason why he became a hero is because he has led hundreds of people to get equal rights. Imagine life without Martin Luther King Jr, black people wouldn't have equal rights. There would be the Jim Crow Laws, and black people would've never had someone to help them fight for equal rights. Once again, Martin Luther King Jr is my hero and the hero of others, and he will never be forgotten.
