He is the son of Michael A. Jordan, an American actor, and Donna Jordan, a high school counselor. If you're wondering about his middle name, Bakari means “Noble Promise” in Swahili.

He went on to play an All-Star quarterback named Vince Howard In Friday Night Lights (2006). They humbly won Outstanding Independent Motion Picture at the 2014 NAACP Image Awards and the 2014 Stanley Kramer Award from the Producers Guild of America. The 2013 New York Film Critics Circle granted it Best First Film, and the movie was also picked as one of the Top Ten Films at the 2013 National Board of Review Awards, where Jordan clinched the award for Breakthrough Actor. Jordan was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for Best Lead Actor.

He played Adonis Creed in the inspiring, award-winning movie Creed. The Marvel company admired his ability to act, and hired him to act in Fantastic 4, playing Johnny Storm, aka "Human Torch."
