MY HERO DOCUMENTARY TO SCREEN AT THE NEWSFEST — TRUE STORIES INTERNATIONAL FILM AND WRITERS FESTIVAL
OCTOBER 19, 2024 – LAGUNA BEACH, CA - Eva Haller: A Work in Progress, a MY HERO Project documentary has been selected to screen at the Ethos - Newsfest Film Festival. The film, directed by MY HERO Co-founder and Director Jeanne Meyers, will screen Friday November 8 at 1:00 pm at the Laemmle Theater in Santa Monica.
Eva Haller
The film is the story of Eva Haller, a 94-year old woman who, as a child, participated in the Hungarian resistance and lost her brother during the Holocaust. She vowed to live a life of helping others and fled her native Hungary, eventually making her way to the United States, where she has spent decades mentoring generations of activists, particularly women. Haller has been honored with numerous awards, including the inaugural Forbes Women Excellence in Mentoring Award, and has helped humanitarian organizations that include Asian Initiatives, Women for Women International, Free the Children and the Jane Goodall Institute. She is also a board member of The MY HERO Project.
The Newsfest
The Newsfest launched in 2019 and is open to documentarians, news professionals or filmmakers whose work depicts an authentic news event through a narrative film or screenplay.
