This internship should be an opportunity for you to build new skills and develop your portfolio. You may focus on whichever tasks interest you the most, as well as suggest additional projects.

Task #1: Finding and inviting films
Festival Deadline: September 1st
MY HERO does NOT accept
-films that promote violence, hatred, or intolerance
-films inappropriate for children, unless a warning label is added
MY HERO accepts
-films under 10 minutes
-excerpts or trailers of longer films
-films that celebrate a hero, explore concepts of heroism, or explore hero-related topics

This film won the Best of Fest Narrative Award at the 2023 film festival.
This documentary about a former Sesame Street writer, won the Eva Haller Women Transforming Media Youth Award in 2022.
This film won the Ron Kovic Peace Prize and Women Transforming Media Award in 2021.
This film won 1st place in the Documentary category and the Dan Eldon Activist Award for 2019.
This experimental film won the Best of Fest award in 2018.

The Ron Kovic Peace Prize is a $1,000 prize bestowed to the director of the short film that most effectively addresses the issue of world peace.
The Dan Eldon Activist Award is a $500 prize awarded to the filmmaker who best uses media to effect positive change.
The Sylvia Earle Ocean Conservation Award is a $500 prize awarded to a film about ocean conservation.
The Relationships First Award is a $1,500 prize that honors short films that depict in innovative ways the powerful and poignant connections in any type of contemporary family relationship.
Youth reporters share inspiring short films on the theme of heroism and win prizes at The MY HERO International Film Festival.
The Eva Haller Women Transforming Media Award is a $2,500 prize awarded to films featuring women change makers, as well as those exploring women's issues or from a woman's point of view.
The Immersive Storytelling Award is for innovative Virtual Reality content featuring stories that promote creativity, engagement, activism, and social good.
The Mattie Stepanek Poetic Film prize honors filmmakers who share messages of hope and peace through their visual poems.
The Sing for Hope Music Video is awarded to inspiring music videos.
Task #2: Make Short Films to be Featured on the MY HERO Calendar
MY HERO Calendar
The MY HERO Calendar celebrates heroes on their birthdays, in addition to other theme days. If interested, you may create short informational videos based on heroes honored in the calendar.

Media Arts Portal
Our Media Arts Portal contains resources and guidance for creating films and multimedia projects. Your task is to find or create new resources for our Media Arts library.
Task #4: Make Videos to Promote MY HERO or Edit Previously Made Videos
You may create videos that promote MY HERO's upcoming contests. Editing or shortening existing promo videos is also an option.

You can create videos for our social media. One of out most-needed types of videos are short clips from winning films.
