We encourage filmmakers to also submit their films to our partner festivals.

One Earth Young Filmmakers Contest

Who: Students aged 8-25 who are currently enrolled in a school or higher education institution or who are a recent graduate within the age range

What: Seek films about the natural environment that inspire change or action. Students in grade 11 or younger are asked to present a problem and solution with one of 7 environmental topics: climate, energy, food, transportation, waste, water, or wildlife and ecosystems, while older students are given more creative flexibility

Where: Based in Chicago, Illinois

When: Contest deadline is June 25, 2026. Winning films will premiere at the Awards Celebration Weekend Sept. 26-27, 2026, at Davis Theater in Chicago

Why: Elevate your voice, inspire environmental action, win up to $1,000 in prizes, and have your film seen by global audiences and partner festivals
