Nellie Mclung

What do you think a hero is,to me a hero is a : Courtous , Courageous , and brave kind of person.Nellie Mclung grew up in Chatsworth , Onterio was boen in 1873 and was not a person under Canadian law.Nellie Mclung was not born as Nellie Mclung , Nellie Mclung was born as Helen Letita Moony.Women back then did not have some rights that men did.If women inherited property her husband would own it, and if her husband died she would be left a pennyless widow. Nellie Mclung to me is a hero because she faught for women's rights.

At age 10 to 15 Nellie attended school . When she was 16 Nellie completed teacher traning.Nellie was hired in 1890 in Manitou.Nellie married Robert Wesley Mclung . Marriage ended the teaching carrier of Nellie Mclung .

The Mclung's moved Winnepeg in 1911,there Nellie joined a women's press club.Nellie is best remembered for her triumph in Winnipeg in the women's parlament of 1914.With Nellie's power of mimicry Nellie, Brought down the house.Through tears of laughter the audience was forced to see how ridiculous the arguments were that were fought against womens rights.

Nellie became an MLA and while she was an MLA she had become one of the Famous - Five Alberta Women.The Famous - Five convinced the Canadian govement that the word PERSON should leagaly include women.The Famous - Five won their case in 1933.
