Natalia Laschenova

A hero can be found in a grocery store. They can also be found in the military. Wherever they are, they always possess the same character traits. You will always find that no matter who your hero is, they will always be brave and humble in every way. They will also show utmost respect for others and will show kindness to even the worst of people they meet. My hero is Natalia Laschenova.

Natalia is an Olympic gold medalist of the 1988 Seoul summer games. She won gold with the team, and fifth  place all around. She competed with the Soviet union. Natalia also completed a very hard process to go through. Immigration. Aside from her amazing accomplishments, her life was very simple. Natalia was born in  September 16, 1973. She has 3 children. She now works as a gymnastics coach at Universal gymnastics in Hilliard, Ohio.

Lots of heroes are humble, but when you accomplish something as difficult as Natalia has, it’s even harder. Even now, she never gloats or speaks of achievements. She was also very brave when she went through immigration. She had to deal with court and government and lots of paperwork, and she was so brave not to give up.

Respect is hard to get, and even harder to give. When you have been on the internet and in the newspaper, you really see your input on the world. Natalia has been in this situation, and has been respected in the past. She worked for that respect, and every day in the gym, she respects others opinions and others input on the future. In the process of immigration you have to talk with cranky people and it can take years to complete. Natalia still showed kindness and composure, and hasn't stopped ever since. Immigration only fueled her happiness.

A hero could be anywhere, and when you find one, you will know. When you find your hero, think of what they mean to you. Natalia is a great role model and represents lots of good things in the world. She shows how happiness and good attitude helps your life go the right way, and how perseverance and hard work pays off. Natalia has the olympics and her official citizenship of America to show for it. I would love to be known as a humble person who was kind, just like Natalia.
