Nelson Mandela was born on July 18th, 1918 at Mvezo in the Eastern Cape region. He was a South African president.
When he was 7 years old, Rolihlahla Mandela became the first member of his family who went to school. His professor gave him his occidental name, "Nelson."
Nelson fought the racism.
He participated in the non-violent struggle against the laws of apartheid.
On August 5th, 1962, he was arrested by South African police. It become a symbol of the fight for racial equality and he had international support during his 27 years in prison.
In 1993, he received the Nobel Prize of Peace for peacefully ending the apartheid regime.
For me a hero is a person who is admired for their courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities.
I admire Mandela because he changed the world on racism. He inspires me.
