Nikita Neogy
Artwork
Nikita Neogy recently submitted two pieces of artwork to the MY HERO and Robert Shetterly Portrait Contest, where her portraits caught the attention of the renowned artist himself. Currently a student at Universal American School in Dubai, Nikita has been developing her artistic voice from a young age. Drawn early on to portraiture, she has long been fascinated by human expression, particularly the emotions conveyed through the eyes.

Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan is a hero of peace who transformed the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from seven separate tribes into a unified, thriving nation. His heroic deed was replacing conflict with collaboration, creating a country built on tolerance and education. In my painting, "The Lasting Legacy", the falcon, horse and mosque represent the heritage he protected while building a modern future. He proved that a leader’s greatest strength is their wisdom, famously stating that a nation’s true wealth is its people. This portrait illustrates his visionary leadership that turned a desert landscape into a global home for harmony.
Oil and Watercolor
'The Last Spark' honors Bela Ya’ari Hazan, an unsung hero and resistance courier who used her appearance as a shield to smuggle weapons through death-trap checkpoints. I captured her quiet bravery by using acrylics for the heavy, oppressive darkness and oils for the defiant realism in her eyes. The portrait depicts Bela in her 'Aryan' cover, looking as she needed to for survival, while the stark white flame of her candle represents her true, rebellious identity. This work honors a hero who refused to let her spirit be erased, proving that even in the darkest history, one individual can maintain the spark of resistance.
