In the early April of 2025, Myanmar border captured a powerful moment of courage during the recent deadly earthquake: two Chinese nurses, Xiong Jielan and Li Xiaoqing, protecting newborn babies as the ground shook beneath them.
According to Reuters, the video shows the two nurses in action at the facility located in Ruili city, Yunnan Province. As tremors began to shake the building, Jielan instinctively cradled a baby tightly in her arms, shielding the infant from potential harm. Meanwhile, Xiaoqing rushed to stabilize the cribs, holding onto the beds to prevent them from toppling over.
Their calm under pressure and instinct to protect the most vulnerable lives in such a terrifying moment have been widely praised online, with many calling them "guardian angels in scrubs."
