     Do you know a little girl that was poor as a child, but soon after  she became one of the richest woman alive, and started a company called Harpo? Well, if you see “Harpo”, if you spell it backwards, it’s Oprah Winfrey! This talented woman named Oprah is an a excellent person. She is a “ hero” because she is a upstander for standing up against child abuse. I believe she fits my definition of a hero because she is really helpful to the world because she donated lots of money! This will be about Oprah Winfrey’s background, and accomplishments. 

  This is the back story of Oprah Winfrey. First, it started when she was born on January 29, 1954. She was born in Kosciusko, Mississippi. Secondly, her parents were getting poor, so they moved to Wisconsin at the age 6. Oprah’s first ever job was at the CBS tv station. In the present, she also works for other jobs like: She worked as a actress in movies like “The Color Purple”, “A Wrinkle in Time”, and alot of other movies! She even wrote her own book, and something that is a big hit is, “The Oprah Winfrey Show”. 

   Oprah Winfrey accomplished many things for herself and other people in the world! First, she won the Cecil B. DeMille Award for Lfetime Achievement.  The Oprah Show was so good that it got lots of Emmy Awards in 1977 and other years. Then, she did charities around the world. Most importantly, she donated at least $40 million dollars for disadvantage girls without education. By this time, in 2010, she was named a Kennedy Center Honoree, and the following year she got the Jean Hersholt Award. Lastly, she became an outspoken crusader against child abuse and received many awards from organizations. Oprah Winfrey did many things to change the world!

 So, now you know what AMAZING things Oprah Winfrey did. She is a great hero to the world! She did great things like donating lots of money.  She accomplished many things, and went through a pretty rough life. This is the Oprah Winfrey story!
