My hero is Portia Duff. She's a Educator/Trainer for the Division of Public Health, HIV/AIDS department in Delaware. She's everything a hero should be.
First, she's intelligent. She has a Bachelors of Science in Community Health from Indiana University. She's always willing to share her experiences with me to help me through my adolescence.
Second, her job is one that doesn't get national fame or an enormous salary. It's a job that helps the community deal with an epidemic that is affecting us all. It's a job that you have to want to do. It's a job that only someone that really wants to help the community would take. It's not a job that a high school kid announces they want to be. But when asked what I wanted to be in my tenth grade Economics class I proudly stated that I wanted to follow in my hero's footsteps.
In conclusion, Portia Duff is my hero because she's always there for me when I need her. For me, she's filled the role of mother and best friend and I can only hope that someday I'll be able to return the favor.
