Escaping the grasp of the Nazis for 2 years in the holocaust as a Jew, pretty impressive right. That was the accomplishment of Anne Frank, a teenage girl who inspired many. Anne Frank wrote a diary while she was alive and escaping Hitler. This diary was later published and it revealed how inspiring her life really was.
Annelies Marie Frank was born in Frankfurt am Main, Germany on June 12th 1929. For her 13th birthday, Anne Frank got a diary. On July 6th 1942 the Franks went into hiding in the backroom of her father’s business. They hid for 761 days along with four other Jews. That is 2 years and 31 days while they were hiding, Anne was writing. Anne wrote in her diary about everything, but she was forced to leave it behind when they were discovered on August 4th 1944. She and her family were taken to a transportation camp called Westerbork. On September 3rd 1944, they were transported to Auschwitz, a concentration camp. During their time at Auschwitz Anne's mother passed away. Furthermore, her father was hospitalized. Shortly after, Anne and her sister Margot were transported to another concentration camp called Bergen-Belsen. The Dutch government established that Anne and Margot died in March of 1945. Additionally, in 2015, further research was conducted that proved they most likely lived until February 1945. After Anne and her family were discovered in hiding, friends of her fathers collected his papers that were left behind. They gave the papers back to him later on, along with those papers was Anne's journal, which got published and inspired many with her first-person accounts of life in the holocaust. It has since been translated into 65 different languages, turned into many movies and even a Broadway show.
Anne Frank and her family along with four other Jews, with the help of non-Jew friends managed to stay hidden and safe from the Nazis for 2 years in the same place. This was a pretty big feat seeing as their cover was not blown and the Nazi were pretty thorough. She didn’t fight them directly but she showed them up by staying in a backroom and not getting found, and revealing their secrets many years later. She hated what was happening and she was scared all she had was her family, friends and diary. The diary was the only place where she could fully feel safe. Her life during the holocaust was not the normal story and she didn’t know it but she was sharing it with the world.
From Anne Frank, we can learn that even in the most dire situations, there's always a way to escape, whether it’s mental or not it can help cope. Her diary was the only thing that consoled her while they were hiding. Anne Frank, her family, and friends are all good people who fought for their lives and the lives of others, and their story lives in writing. They disobeyed the Nazi for their lives and their story inspires people everyday.
