Rosa Parks

by Sarina Hoque from Brooklyn, New York in United States

One person can change the world such as Rosa Parks!! Rosa Parks was known as the mother of the civil rights movement, and an American civil rights activist. She is known by these names because at the age 42 on December 1, 1955 she had refused to give a seat to a white man. This led to her arrest but also sparked the Montgomery Bus boycott, which is a pivotal moment in the American Civil rights movements. This shows how she is heroic because she is standing up so that everyone can be treated fairly, she has had enough of all the disrespect which led to the civil rights movement, and made people of color be treated fairly. Rosa Parks has also shown her bravery by standing for her people, which impacted many people's lives.

Rosa Parks was born in Tuskege,e Alabama on February 4, 1913. As her life goes on, people of color are treated differently from people who are white, which was very unfair, and racist. Even people of color had to give up their seat to people that are white and were treated like second-class citizens. So Rosa Parks responded to this by refusing to give her seat to a white man when the bus driver had told her too. She had known that they were being treated unfairly and had had enough; she had said that she " was tired of giving in" and thought that everyone should be treated fairly. She might have been arrested but still her resistance and bravery had sparked the Montgomery Bus boycott, which is a pivotal moment in the American Civil rights movement. This also made her known as the mother of civil rights. After all challenges in her hostile environment, she kept going and kept standing up so everyone could be treated fairly and made more people stand up. She was an American Civil rights activist.

Rosa Parks stood up and refused to give her seat to a white man, which positively impacted people's lives because she stood up for people who did not have the bravery to stand up so she did so everyone can be treated fairly and for equality. After what Rosa Parks did it caused the civil rights movement, which made people of color have rights and be treated fairly which impacted many people and the world. Rosa Parks was very brave and resistant after what she did. She is brave for standing up, and resistant because she refused to give up her seat and knew what she had to do. Her bravery caused her to refuse to giveup  her seat, which is brave and she did it even if she would get arrested.

Rosa Parks character traits are that she is brave, determined, fair, resistant, and much more. This makes her good because she wants everyone to be treated fairly and her bravery, determination, and resistance helped her get fairness for everyone. I look up to Rosa Parks because she wants everything to be fair and everyone to be treated equally which I also want. She is also very brave, which I like because she stands up even if she would get arrested and her determination shows how patient she is and that she will keep on standing up no matter how long it takes. We learn that everyone should be treated fairly, no matter what race they are, and you should fight for what you think is right. Rosa Parks did not stand up for fame, she stood up so the world could be a better place with equality.
