Nayib Bukele

by Lhiam Rosa from Brooklyn, New York in United States

Nayib Bukele grew up in a country that you would probably be scared of today without him. You might not know him but I do and I think that by the end of this you might like him a bit or maybe more than I do, so if you want to learn more about my hero read on.

Nayib Bukele was born July 24 1981 and grew up in the city of San Salvador. At this point, he had to grow up in a community that was full of crime and gangs. His father was a businessman and an industrial chemist but sadly died the year of 2015. Bukele finished secondary school at the age of 18 and started studying judicial science in Central American university in El Salvador aspiring him to be a lawyer. Later he announced that he would join politics of the FMLN (Farabundo Martí National liberation front) breaking his “comfort zone”. After some time with FMLN, Bukele was elected mayor of El Salvador,  the youngest mayor in the country's history, then he made a scholarship program and funded his $2,000 salary to start it. Not long after he launched the Sphere PM program to take photos of El Salvador to promote education in science and technology to dissuade youth from crime.

After he was elected as mayor he created a new political party in order to run for president. Finally in the year of 2019 February 3rd Nayib Bukele won the election and became the president of El Salvador. The first thing that Bukele promised was to get rid of all the gangs in the country because El Salvador was one of the most dangerous countries due to its gang violence. In order for him to do this Bukele constructed a seven-phase plan to stop the gangs. Step one was “preparation” including all the members of the country’s armed forces, putting all the prisons in a temporary state of emergency causing all prisons to go in a full lock down banning visitors. Phase two was to separate all youth from crime. Phase three was to give all the armed forces new gear, weapons, helicopters and security drones to help partroll high gang activity zones. Phase 4 was to patrol those areas that where difficult to access. Phase five was to go and extract the gang members for high gang activity places along with cities. Phase 6 was to  National Integration Directory to combat poverty and unemployment. Phase seven is unknown but after roundin up all the prisoners he created a giant prison that can fit up to 40,000 inmates.

Nayib Bukele is a good person because he is a great leader and cares for other people, because whatever money he earns he donates it to the people in El Salvador.
