Chris Kyle had 160 confirmed kills as a sniper and  is considered to be the most lethal sniper in American history. Chris Kyle was born in Odessa, Texas, on April 8, 1974. Kyle is a very decorated sniper for the Navy SEALs. "Kyle was assigned his first SEAL mission in the winter of 2002"("Chris Kyle"). When Chris Kyle was deployed he had to shoot a man who was aiming a rocket launcher at a U.S. convoy. The shot was 2,100 yards, which is more than a mile. He was so lethal that al-Qaeda put bounties on his head that varied from $20,000 to $80,000.("Chris Kyle") Kyle was killed on February 2, 2013, when he and a colleague, Chad Littlefield, were shot at a gun range outside of Fort Worth, Texas. They were killed by an ex-marine by the name of Eddie Ray Routh. Kyle met Eddie through working with him, and trying to help Eddie overcome his mental illness. (A&E Networks Television) A hero must show courage and caring, because they have to be able to do what it takes but also be able to care about the people he may be hurting. Chris Kyle is a hero because he shows the traits of courage and caring towards those in the military and everyone.

Chris Kyle possess courage, which is a trait that few people have. It is shown that that is what he wanted when he once said: '"I don't have to psyche myself up, or do something special mentally - I look through the scope, get my target in the cross hairs, and kill my enemy before he kills one of my people"'(A&E Networks Television).  Chris Kyle had the courage to help protect his people even if that involved killing someone. He also had the courage to take someone else's life to save more lives. Chris also shows courage when he said: '"I felt bad about leaving Taya. she was still healing from the birth. But at the same time, I felt my duty as a SEAL was more important. I wanted to get back into action. I wanted to go to war"(Chris Kyle). Chris wanted to go to war even if it meant leaving his wife behind. He just wanted to go and help save people. Chris wanted to protect his second family and his country more that anything. These are only some of the many courageous acts that Chris Kyle did while he was alive.

Chris Kyle shows that he is a caring person through his work with his and other charities. On his charity page it shows his mission: "Our mission is to serve those who serve us by providing meaningful interactive experiences that enrich family relationships. The Chris Kyle Frog Foundation will achieve this through experiences that:

  • Provide time and space to reconnect after deployment without the distractions of everyday life

  • Provide power to return to the 'family unit'

  • Provide new common ground after military involvement"(OUR MISSION)

Chris wanted to help the people who served the United States, especially the ones who were injured physically and mentally. He wanted to help the people get on steady ground, and help them be able to return to their family faster. In his book he said: "I'm starting to understand the contributions I can make to others. I realize that I can be a complete man- taking care of my family and helping in a small way to take care of others"(Chris Kyle). This Quote just goes to show how he cares about others and wants to help the people who were wounded in war. It also shows that he wants to be a complete man. Both of these examples greatly represent how Chris Kyle demonstrates caring for other fellow military service men and women.

Chris Kyle is a hero because he is a courageous and caring person.Kyle showed courage through how he put others first in the line of battle and did everything he could. He showed that he cared by helping people who had been injured in war get back on their feet. Chris Kyle inspires me because he is a very decorated soldier,  "Kyle's steel nerves and patience for tracking his subjects earned him two awards of the Silver Star and five awards for the Bronze Star" (A&E Networks Television). Also how he became a navy SEAL,  "Kyle joined the Navy and began training for the SEALs in February of 1999. He was among the 10 percent of his starting class that graduated. Following additional training Kyle was assigned to SEAL Team 3"("Chris Kyle"). This inspires me because of how hard it is to become a SEAL. Also because of how he set his mind to become a SEAL. Imagine a world where everyone possessed the same traits that Chris Kyle had, and begin this change by trying to implement those traits into your own life.
