OLIVER SYKES

My hero is Oliver Sykes, also known as Oli Sykes. He is my hero for many reasons, including he is in a band, has his own clothing brand, and gets to perform everywhere in the world. Oliver Sykes born November 20th 1986 in Sheffield, England. Oliver Sykes is currently the lead vocalist in the death-core band "Bring Me The Horizon." Oliver Sykes is now 24 years of age and is very successful. I can imagine that he is a hero to many other people in the world other then me.

Suicide Season: Cut Up

Throughout all his work he is most famous for his band, "Bring Me The Horizon." Just like any other teenage boy who loves rock and roll, he wanted to start his own band. When he attended Stockbridge High School he met up with two high school students such as Matt Hedlers, and Alex Turner just 1 year older then him that attended Artic Monkeys After School program. They all loved music and wanted to work with each other. They quickly worked well together and started to make awsome quick tracks, and complimation CD's. The group eventually broke up and Oliver went his separate way. Before that he was in a side project with his brother Matt Sykes and friend Matt Nicholls. That group went by the name of Womb 2 Da Tomb. It didn't last long and wasn't successful.

Oliver had many talents, but rapping wasn't one of them. Oliver found out that he had a better talent, "Screaming." The group changed their style of music to Death-core, or Heavy Screamo Metal. They quickly changed their name to Bring Me The Horizon and everything went great from there. The band consists of Oliver Sykes, Lee Malia, Matt Kean, Matt Nicholls, Jona Weinhofen. This was the new and improved band of Bring Me The Horizon.

They started to make there first album in 2004 when they were signed to the record label of Epitaph. The band quickly got known and more famous then they had ever imagined. Now they are still together and still making albums as they just released in 2010 an album of, " Suicide Season: Cut Up Edition."

DROP DEAD CLOTHING

Oliver's second job is his running his own clothing line, "Drop Dead." He started this line in 2005 with only a couple of designs but now has a lot more. He has items from t-shirts, hoodies, jackets, pants, shoes, jewelry, accessories, and even stickers. His clothes are only sold online at, " iheartdropdead.com." You cannot buy these clothes from a store. His clothes style runs from scene to emo to just plain awsome. Right now his clothing line is doing good and is getting lots of support from other bands. You could tell by the prices that it's really awesome. I would get some clothes from the online store if I had that amount of money.

Right now Oliver Sykes lives in Sheffield, England. He is probably never home because he is always on tour. He is currently on tour in England, but is coming to Milwaukee on July 29th 2010 for the Vans Warped Tour 2010. I am trying to go see them with all the other bands that are going to be there. Oliver is always on the go, doing photo shoots, touring, and probably has lots of things to do on his schedule.

Oli Sykes has made a huge impact on my life in many ways. He has taught me that you can achieve many goals in life like he is in a band and can create goals. You are not always going to achieve at first but if you keep trying you will succeed. I look up to him in his music and what he does. To me he is a great musician and should continue to create music with his band. I think he should keep making clothes and hopefully I can support him in that by buying some clothes. Without him I don't know who my hero would be.
