My hero is Randy 'The Natural' Couture. Randy Couture is a UFC fighter. He is currently the UFC heavyweight champ. After coming out of a 14-month retirement, Randy was ready to get back in the game. On March 3, 2007 he defeated Tim Sylvia in the 5th round in UFC 68 The Uprising.
Randy signed with the RINGS organization after leaving the UFC. RINGS is a fightsport promotion in Japan. That makes it so that even people in Japan can fight in the UFC. He has also won titles in the light-heavyweight. Randy won the light heavyweight title at UFC 44 by defeating Tito Ortiz. Also he was the first fighter to hold championship titles in two different weight divisions in the UFC Heavyweight and Light-Heavyweight.
Before mixed martial arts, he enjoyed a successful amateur wrestling career with such accolades as four World Team member spots, 8th place at the 1997 World Championship in Poland, Pan American Games Champion, four-time National Champion in Greco-Roman, and three All-American honors in college, including two runner-ups for Oklahoma State. Along with all of that he was also inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame on June 24, 2005.
Randy was born in Everett, Washington, USA on June 22, 1963. And now at the age of 44, he is a proud resident of Corvallis, Oregon. He is 6 ft 2 in and weighs 225 lbs. He met his wife, Kim, at a party, and they married exactly two years later.
Randy wrestled throughout his junior high and high school years and also played football. Randy served in the U.S. Army from 1982–1988. Randy Couture debuted in the UFC on May 30, 1997 as part of UFC 13. Randy won his first Heavyweight title due to decision in a 1997 match against kickboxer Maurice Smith. On June 24, 2006, during the Ultimate Fighter 3 Finale broadcast on Spike TV, Randy became the fourth fighter to be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame, joining Royce Gracie, Dan Severn, and Ken Shamrock. When Randy retired from the professional fighting circuit, he began embarking on a variety of activities, including appearing at UFC events as a regular broadcast commentator and as co-host of Before/After The Bell on The Fight Network. He will also appear in the upcoming Rob Schneider comedy Big Stan.
Randy Couture is still alive. He was born on June 22, 1963 in Lynnwood, Washington. He lives in Corvallis, Oregon. He also served as an assistant wrestling coach and strength and conditioning coach for Oregon State University.
Randy Couture is important to me because he proved that you are never too old to do anything. He is also a good guy to look up to. Also, he has shown people that you can do anything. For example He was retired for 14 months and came back to win his first title fight aginst Tim Sylvia when no one thought he could do it. And that is why I think Randy Couture is a hero.
