Ritchie Valens

by Luis from Houston

Hi my name is Luis E. Perez. I am going to talk about Ritchie Valens. He was born May 13,1941 in the town of Pacoina California. Ritchie was darker-skinned Mexican american. He was very successful. Ritchie mother name is Connie Valenzela. She had another son Ritchie stepbrother. He was four years older then him.

Valens grew up in the heyday of rock "n" roll. Ritchie took his opportunities; he didn't just work at factories and on farms. The best thing happened to Ritchie is when he launched his career as a rock musicican. The biggest success Ritchie had was when he wrote the song "Come on, Let's Go." A music company exeautive liked the song and had him record it.

This single "come on, Let's go" was released locally early in the summer of 1958. "Donna" the next record was a ballad Valens had written for his high girlfriend Valens singles "Donna" and "La Bamba"this were moving toward the top ten. These songs made him the most popular artist on the tour at the moment. Before Ritchie's death he called his brother and told him to meet him somewhere because he need family around him. I think Ritchie Valens is a hero to me because he a Mexican american that achieved alot of things. Also he was the first Mexican to become a pop music idol.

The one bad thing to Ritchie was when he died in a plane crash. Ritchie was only 17 years old. 1958 is when he died.
