You say the word "dogs" and certain people think of dog sled races. With the rations of food, and the slippers for the dogs. Tents that are supposed to keep you warm, and dogs that curl up in little holes in the snow. Wearing your fur coat, with the wind stinging your face. That is what Libby Riddles likes to do.
Libby Riddles was born in Madison, Wisconsin. When she moved to Alaska, she was just about to turn 17. Her first dog sled race was a little local race and she came in first.

Libby was the first woman to win the Iditarod sled dog race in Alaska. She has been a musher since 1976, and some of her dog's names are: Inca, Bugs, Dugan, and Beast. She wrote 3 books, and she occasionally professionally speaks.
I think that Libby Riddles is a "Survivor Hero" because she survived the harsh, cold, living conditions of Alaska. She probably took good care of her dogs, and fed them well. She took good care of herself and made sure that she would survive the race.
In conclusion to my essay, Libby Riddles is a survivor hero in many ways. She survived her first race with no problem, that I know of, and survived the Iditarod while still coming in first place. From what I have researched, it looks like she takes good care of her animals, and treats them the way they should be.
