During my early tumultuous teenage years, I was plagued by depression and difficulty socializing. I had given up on finding light in other people, but my savior, Riya, hadn't given up on me. Despite my unwillingness to be proven wrong, her sunny, fun-loving disposition gave me another chance at appreciating the people who surround me. Her everlasting energy prodded me out of my stubborn shell, encouraging me to find the joys in social settings. Her presence reminds me of the dull outlook on life I would have perpetuated if she hadn't rescued me from it.
