Rosa ParksGoogle imagesI have thought my whole life about what makes a person a hero. I think a hero has to help others. Helping others is important because when people help, they help others. Like Alexander Graham Bell helped others by making a telephone to call people when they need help. Also, he helped the blind and deaf people. Also, a hero has to be brave so that they are willing to go into danger. Jane Goodall went to Africa to learn about chimpanzees. She was the first woman who watched the chimpanzees for a long period of time! Rosa Parks went to jail and she was brave enough to stay there.
Rosa Parks was an African-American woman who thought the African-Americans were treated unfairly. She was willing to go into danger, which made the law change. One day, Rosa Parks sat in the bus while more and more white people were coming on. So Rosa Parks had to stand up. But Rosa Parks didn't stand up. She sat in her seat until the driver called the police. Rosa Parks changed the law by getting the African Americans to walk to school and the working place. They walked for 383 days! And finally the law changed.
Rosa Parks was born on 1913. When Rosa Parks was born, African Americans were treated unfairly by white Americans. Her house was poor. When she was in 6th grade, she moved to another school for the next couple years. After she graduated high school in 1955, she decided that the African Americans had to be treated fairly like the whites were treated. One day, Rosa Parks sat in the bus and more and more White people were coming on. The driver told the African American passengers to move to the line where Rosa Parks sat. When it was time for Rosa Parks to stand, she didn't stand up. The driver said she had a choice. Stand up or go to jail. But Rosa Parks sat. So, the driver called the police and she went to jail. But that wasn't the end of her life. The man that worked for the NAACP rescued her from jail. Soon, the African Americans decided to walk to the working area and school. They walked about a year! The most important event or accomplishment in her life was when she didn’t stand up in the bus when the driver said to. Also when she went to the NAACP to help others change the laws for the African Americans. Rosa Parks died in 2005.
Rosa Parks in prisonGoogle imagesRosa Parks was treated unfairly because of her skin color. So, she decided to work for the NAACP harder and change the world for the better and that is why I think a hero has to help others and be brave like Rosa Parks, because she was willing to go into danger. She thought in the bus whether she had to stand or not. And she chose not to stand up. Then, she went to the jail. Usually, when people go to jail, they feel scared. But Rosa Parks just stayed calm until one of the workers from the NAACP came to rescue her and that is very brave. So I think that is why Rosa Parks is a hero.
