You know Rosa Parks as the woman who refused to give up her seat on the bus, but there's actually a lot more to her. She walked the walk of freedom and was extremely involved in the militant black power movement! Read here to learn more about Rosa Parks behind the scenes.
Rosa Parks was born February 4, 1913, in Tuskegee, Alabama, but at the age of 2 moved to Pine Level Alabama. She went to an industrial school for girls and later went to Alabama State Teachers College for negros, but had to withdraw because her grandma became ill.
Rosa Parks stood with young people who were organizing and making their attempts to get justice. She had long hated the ways that black rebels were seen as freaks and demonized. Like many younger activists, Parks too had grown frustrated by white intransigence toward black demands for equality and justice in schools, housing, jobs, and policing.
All in all Rosa Parks is a very persistent person, never giving up on what she stands for, and isn't afraid of people who don't agree. I hope you enjoyed and now understand why I look up to her, and maybe learned a thing or two. (Thanks for reading)
