Discussion Questions and Activity

1. Rosa Parks is an example that one person can make a difference and motivate others. Research the effect the Montgomery Bus Boycott had on the Civil Rights Movement.

2. What were some of the difficulties that Rosa Parks faced during and after the Montgomery Bus Boycott?

3. How did Rosa Parks activism continued after her move to Detroit?

4. Analyze the two portraits of Rosa Parks. How do the artists portray her strength?

5. Why is it important today to remember heroes like Rosa Parks who are symbols of non-violent resistance to oppression? Identify non-violent activist heroes currently working against oppression.

 

Learning Outcome

Students will develop critical thinking skills as they reflect on the legacy of Rosa Parks and identify activists resisting oppression in a non-violent manner in today's world.
